T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E

A word only takes on its meaning through the whole of its letters, each one indispensable and equally important in carrying that meaning.

In the same way, the different cultures and spiritual beliefs of our societies can live together in brotherhood and complete one another, through mutual respect and a little kindness.

Mysterious and grave, nine emissaries invite you to meet them, to respect their differences and the beliefs they suggest. Brought together in one place, they speak to us of encounter and harmony, of peaceful plenitude.

As human beings, we all share, inscribed in our nature and founded on the awareness of our vulnerability, the same quest for stability and peace.

Religious tensions seem to grow worse by the day. And yet it is this mosaic of beliefs and cultures that makes up the world...

Through this sculpture, I wanted to highlight the resemblance within this shared quest for immanence, whatever form it takes and whatever the "god" it is addressed to. It is this similarity, this convergence, that ought to be shown, rather than the differences born of unproven speculation or baseless fundamentalist assertions about the divine, which are inherently ambiguous and therefore open to question.

Each letter, through its own style, evokes one of the world's beliefs. But the interpretations are deliberately left open to each person's imagination...
