Guy Ferrer takes over French Catalonia

Guy Ferrer takes over French Catalonia

Guy Ferrer in the spotlight at several venues in Perpignan, the city where he lives and which is close to his heart.

We are delighted to present the programme of sculptor and painter Guy Ferrer for spring and summer 2024: a period rich in events and exhibitions, in and around the city where he has lived since returning from abroad, more than 15 years ago now, and where his studio is based.

ANIMAUX 2.0 (Animals 2.0), Musée d'Histoire Naturelle de Perpignan

The Musée d'Histoire Naturelle is hosting six works by Guy Ferrer, a selection of sculptures and works on paper inspired by his travels and his many artist residencies abroad. They sit in harmony with the museum's rich and varied collections, notably its magnificent collection of exotic birds.

Treat yourself to a change of scene on your next visit to the museum!

On view from 18 May 2024 to 9 March 2025
Musée d'Histoire Naturelle, 12 rue Fontaine Neuve, 66000 Perpignan

LES VOYANTS (The Seers), Musée Terrus in Elne (south of Perpignan)

The artist will occupy both floors with a series of works inspired by a mummy's head from the collection of Jacques Kerchache, the great collector who was the driving force behind the creation of the Musée du Quai Branly.

On view from 7 June to 15 September 2024
Musée Terrus, 3 rue Porte Balaguer, 66200 Elne

PETITS TRÉSORS (Little Treasures), Galerie Castang Art Project, in the heart of Perpignan

The exhibition Petits Trésors, presented by the painter and sculptor Guy Ferrer and the ethnic art collector Pascal Lacombe in the intimate setting of Galerie Castang Art Project, could be summed up in these four lines by Baudelaire:

« Étonnants voyageurs ! quelles nobles histoires
Nous lisons dans vos yeux profonds comme les mers !
Montrez-nous les écrins de vos riches mémoires,
Ces bijoux merveilleux, faits d'astres et d'éthers. »

An exhibition in which the Gold of the Sacred sits magnificently alongside precious arts premiers statuettes, revealing the perfect osmosis between the works of an artist-traveller and the choices of a traveller-collector.

On view from 3 July to 4 August 2024
Galerie Castang Art Project, 3 Place Gambetta, 66000 Perpignan

THÉOLOGIE DES ARTS (Theology of the Arts), a session with a contribution from Guy Ferrer

An immersive and enriching session entitled Théologie des Arts, with a contribution from Guy Ferrer, whose works explore spirituality and humanity.

Immerse yourself in a world where art meets the sacred, guided by speakers renowned in their respective artistic fields. The session will be led by Florent Dumontier, poet and senior lecturer at the Theologicum of the Institut Catholique de Paris. This major artistic event, organised by the Centre Théologique Raimon Llull, a mainstay of training in the diocese, is a unique opportunity to discover how theology and the arts intertwine to uplift the mind and enrich the soul.

24 and 25 May 2024
Maison Diocésaine du Parc Ducup, Allée des Chênes, 66000 Perpignan
